Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress

Construction Helix Mattress
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models sound right, you could always check out the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.

The attributes of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide choices whether you were searching for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you needed one to cradle your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The pocketed coil unit should provide great edge support and motion transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped structure.
