Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Worth It
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Worth It

Construction Helix Mattress Worth It
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Worth It
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you could always have a look at the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Worth It
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Worth It
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
