Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Vs Casper
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Vs Casper

Construction Helix Mattress Vs Casper
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different variants (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Vs Casper
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options sound quite right, you can always check out the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Vs Casper
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Vs Casper
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
