Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Vs Casper Mattress
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Vs Casper Mattress

Construction Helix Mattress Vs Casper Mattress
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Vs Casper Mattress
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models feel quite right, you can always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Vs Casper Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Vs Casper Mattress
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.

The attributes of the Helix were thoughtfully manufactured to deliver choices whether you were searching for a mattress that stays cool all night, if you wanted one to support your curves with a thick comfort system, or both! The pocketed coil unit should provide good edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped structure.
Hopefully, I have given you some notion of what the average consumer can expect from the Helix, but it does offer an impressive range of customization with a choice for literally every specific desire or need. Your next best sleep could just be a brief online quiz away.
