Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Valuation
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Valuation

Construction Helix Mattress Valuation
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Valuation
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models feel quite right, you may always check out the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Valuation
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combo will interest a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Valuation
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
