Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Specifications
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Specifications

Construction Helix Mattress Specifications
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Specifications
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Specifications
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Specifications
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
