Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Shipping Time

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Shipping Time

Construction Helix Mattress Shipping Time

All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique models (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Shipping Time

Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.

Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.

Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel right, you could always have a look at the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Shipping Time

According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

While getting a brand-new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.

While you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.

Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.

Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Shipping Time

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!

If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
