Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Reviews 2019
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Reviews 2019

Construction Helix Mattress Reviews 2019
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Reviews 2019
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options seem right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Reviews 2019
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
