Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Review
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Review

Construction Helix Mattress Review
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Review
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models feel quite right, you can always check out the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Review
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Review
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.

The attributes of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide choices whether you were searching for a mattress that stays cool all night, if you wanted one to support your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should offer great edge support and motion transfer is at a minimum with their individually-wrapped structure.
