Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Review 2019
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Review 2019

Construction Helix Mattress Review 2019
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Review 2019
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models sound right, you could always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Review 2019
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Review 2019
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Mattress Review 2019

The attributes of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to deliver choices whether you were looking for a mattress that keeps cool all night, in the event that you needed one to cradle your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The reinforced coil unit should provide amazing edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped build.
I hope that I’ve given you some idea of what the average consumer can expect from this bed, but it does offer an impressive assortment of customization with an option for literally every specific need or desire. Your next best sleep may just be a short online quiz away.
