Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Return
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Return

Construction Helix Mattress Return
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Return
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models seem right, you may always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Return
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Return
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
