Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Retailers
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Retailers

Construction Helix Mattress Retailers
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique models (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Retailers
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options seem quite right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Retailers
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Retailers
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
