Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Questionnaire

Construction Helix Mattress Questionnaire
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem right, you can always check out the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
