Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Nightfall
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Nightfall

Construction Helix Mattress Nightfall
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Nightfall
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options feel right, you could always check out the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Nightfall
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Nightfall
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
