Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress New York
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress New York

Construction Helix Mattress New York
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress New York
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options sound quite right, you may always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress New York
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
