Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Measurements
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Measurements

Construction Helix Mattress Measurements
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Measurements
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you may always check out the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Measurements
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Measurements
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
