Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress King
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress King

Construction Helix Mattress King
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress King
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models feel quite right, you can always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress King
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
