Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Height
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Height

Construction Helix Mattress Height
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Height
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options seem right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Height
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Height
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
