Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Headquarters
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Headquarters

Construction Helix Mattress Headquarters
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Headquarters
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options sound right, you may always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Headquarters
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Headquarters
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
