Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Free Topper
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Free Topper

Construction Helix Mattress Free Topper
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Free Topper
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options feel right, you could always check out the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Free Topper
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
