Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Exchange
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Exchange

Construction Helix Mattress Exchange
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Exchange
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options feel right, you can always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Exchange
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Exchange
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
