Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Customer Review
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Customer Review

Construction Helix Mattress Customer Review
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Customer Review
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models feel right, you may always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Customer Review
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Customer Review
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.

The attributes of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to deliver choices whether you were searching for a mattress that keeps cool all night, if you needed one to support your curves with a thick comfort system, or both! The pocketed coil unit should offer great edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped construction.
I hope that I’ve given you some notion of what the average consumer can expect from this bed, but it truly does provide a sensational assortment of customization with an option for literally every specific need or desire. Your next best sleep may just be a short online quiz away.
