Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Bad Review
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Bad Review

Construction Helix Mattress Bad Review
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Bad Review
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options sound quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Bad Review
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Bad Review
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.

The features of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide options whether you were searching for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you needed one to cradle your curves with a thick comfort system, or both!
