Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Ad
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective variant provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Ad

Construction Helix Mattress Ad
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Ad
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options sound quite right, you could always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Ad
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
