Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Matress Order Form

Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Matress Order Form

Construction Helix Matress Order Form

All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Matress Order Form

Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.

Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.

The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.

Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of these models seem right, you could always have a look at the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Matress Order Form

Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When getting a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.

Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.

Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Matress Order Form

Helix Warranty

Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
