Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Luxury Hybrid
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each individual model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Luxury Hybrid

Construction Helix Luxury Hybrid
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Luxury Hybrid
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options sound right, you can always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Luxury Hybrid
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Luxury Hybrid
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
