Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Long Term Review
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Long Term Review

Construction Helix Long Term Review
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Long Term Review
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options seem quite right, you may always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Long Term Review
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Long Term Review
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Long Term Review
If you’re shopping for a mattress and aren’t quite sure what feel that you require, Helix’s Color Match system and quiz may be the key to finding your very best sleep with minimal hassle. Their state-of-the-art system, which is based on expert sentiment and AI, was designed to improve their customer’s sleep by providing a better match. Helix Long Term Review
The features of this mattress were thoughtfully manufactured to provide options whether you were looking for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you wanted one to cradle your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The reinforced coil unit should provide good edge support and motion transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped build.
Hopefully, I’ve provided you some notion of what the typical consumer can expect from the Helix, but it does provide a sensational range of customization with an option for literally every specific desire or need. Your next best sleep might just be a short online quiz away.
