Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Latex Mattress
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Latex Mattress

Construction Helix Latex Mattress
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Latex Mattress
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options seem quite right, you can always check out the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Latex Mattress
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
