Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix King Size
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix King Size

Construction Helix King Size
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct versions (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix King Size
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models sound right, you may always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix King Size
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix King Size
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
