Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix King Size Mattress
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix King Size Mattress

Construction Helix King Size Mattress
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix King Size Mattress
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options sound quite right, you can always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix King Size Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
