Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix King Dimensions
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix King Dimensions

Construction Helix King Dimensions
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix King Dimensions
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options feel quite right, you may always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix King Dimensions
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix King Dimensions
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
