Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Ireland
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Ireland

Construction Helix Ireland
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Ireland
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options sound quite right, you may always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Ireland
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Ireland
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
