Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Graphic
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Graphic

Construction Helix Graphic
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Graphic
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you could always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Graphic
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Graphic
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
