Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Glass Sink
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Glass Sink

Construction Helix Glass Sink
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Glass Sink
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models feel right, you could always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Glass Sink
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Glass Sink
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
