Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Founders
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Founders

Construction Helix Founders
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Founders
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models feel quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Founders
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Founders
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
