Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Foundation Review
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Foundation Review

Construction Helix Foundation Review
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Foundation Review
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options sound quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Foundation Review
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Foundation Review
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Foundation Review
If you are searching for a mattress and aren’t quite sure what feel that you require, Helix’s Color Match system and quiz might be the key to unlocking your best sleep with no hassle. Their state-of-the-art system, which is based on expert sentiment and artificial intelligence, was created to improve their customer’s sleep by giving a better match. Helix Foundation Review
The attributes of the Helix were thoughtfully constructed to deliver choices whether you were searching for a mattress that keeps cool all night, in the event that you wanted one to support your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should offer good edge support and movement transfer is at a minimum with their individually-wrapped build.
I hope that I have provided you some idea of what the typical customer can expect from this mattress, but it truly does offer an impressive assortment of customization with a choice for literally every specific need or desire. Your next best sleep could just be a short online quiz away.
