Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix For Back Pain
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix For Back Pain

Construction Helix For Back Pain
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix For Back Pain
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models seem right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix For Back Pain
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix For Back Pain
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
