Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Eyes
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Eyes

Construction Helix Eyes
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Eyes
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Eyes
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Eyes
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
