Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Europe
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Europe

Construction Helix Europe
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Europe
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you may always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Europe
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Europe
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
