Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Emoticon
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Emoticon

Construction Helix Emoticon
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Emoticon
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models feel right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Emoticon
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Emoticon
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
