Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Dusk Mattress Reviews
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Dusk Mattress Reviews

Construction Helix Dusk Mattress Reviews
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Dusk Mattress Reviews
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models sound quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Dusk Mattress Reviews
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
