Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review

Construction Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
