Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Dreams
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Dreams

Construction Helix Dreams
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Dreams
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel quite right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Dreams
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Dreams
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
