Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Distribution Centers
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Distribution Centers

Construction Helix Distribution Centers
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Distribution Centers
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you may always check out the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Distribution Centers
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
