Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Customer Service Reviews

Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Customer Service Reviews

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Customer Service Reviews

Construction Helix Customer Service Reviews

All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Customer Service Reviews

Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.

Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.

Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.

Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of those models feel quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Customer Service Reviews

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While getting a new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.

While you are likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.

Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Customer Service Reviews

Helix Warranty

Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
