Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Crop Jumpsuit
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Crop Jumpsuit

Construction Helix Crop Jumpsuit
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Crop Jumpsuit
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options sound right, you could always check out the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Crop Jumpsuit
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
