Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Comparison
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Comparison

Construction Helix Comparison
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Comparison
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you can always have a look at the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Comparison
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and find great support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Comparison
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
