Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Commercial
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Commercial

Construction Helix Commercial
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Commercial
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you could always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Commercial
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Commercial
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
