Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Cal King Mattress
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Cal King Mattress

Construction Helix Cal King Mattress
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Cal King Mattress
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or preferences may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options seem quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Cal King Mattress
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
