Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Brands Nectar
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Brands Nectar

Construction Helix Brands Nectar
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Brands Nectar
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options sound right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Brands Nectar
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
